EMU forward Glenn Bryant arrested for assault, domestic violence

A quick suspension is a nice change of pace from how Eastern Michigan handled the James Still case. But this is the team's second set of charges in the last six months, which is two too many.

Glenn Bryant averaged over 10 points and four rebounds per game last season.

Some more worrisome news out of Ypsilanti regarding an Eastern Michigan basketball transfer. The news of Glenn Bryant being arrested for felony assault and domestic violence in an apartment complex near EMU on Monday. Today the school announced he was suspended indefinitely, and that suspension will stay in place until these charges or resolved.

I am not entirely sure why anyone would want to harm women. I like women, and so do most of you! If you're romantically involved with a women and you're constantly not getting along with her, leave and try to find another one, and don't use your fists. This seems like a pretty simple thing to do.

Additionally, Eagle Totem had some pointed criticisms mostly for the previous athletic director, Derrick Gragg, who didn't seem to handle the James Still situation as cleanly as how interim AD Melody Reifel-Werner did with Bryant. You may remember back in November when Still, who had charges pending on him for assault, was actually allowed to suit up and play for the Eagles, right up until he was charged. He will end up serving at least four years of a 15-year sentence.

As is the case with any arrests, we're in a holding pattern and really can't be put in a place to assess what happened here. He averaged 10.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game last season, and I'd say he's probably the team's second-best player behind Daylen Harrison. But this program just can't keep having distracting arrests.
