The game between Eastern Michigan (22-24) and Michigan (24-22) began on April 17, but Mother Nature's harsh decision of having an all-out downpour with lighting caused a pause in the game which lasted nearly three full weeks. On May 7 when we've thankfully run out silly Star Wars puns to fill our calendars up with, the game picked up where it left off: bottom of the third with EMU already leading 4-1. The Eagles won with a final score of 13-4.

Big inning:

Fast-forwarding to the fifth, EMU posted a seven-run, two-out rally off just three hits to really to keep and maintain a demanding lead over the Maize and Blue. Let's make a timeline out of this half-inning:

-EMU leads 4-2, UM Alex Lakatos pitching,

-John Rubino hit a 6-3 groundout. 1 out.

-Sam Ott flew out to deep left-center field. 2 outs.

-Lee Longo hit by pitch.

-Adam Sonabend was also hit by the very next pitch.

-Jamie Simpson walked on a 3-1 count to load up the bases.

-Austin Wilson hit a 2 RBI single, sharply up the middle. Runners on 1st and 2nd. (6-2)

-Michigan pitching change. Chad Jasman in for Lakatos.

-Marquise Gill hit by pitch to load the bases back up, so that didn't work.

-Nick Rotola with an RBI walk. Really, Meechigan, you can throw strikes whenever you feel like it's necessary. (7-2)

-Daniel Russel goes deep to the center field wall for a stand-up 3 RBI triple. Okay, maybe walking batters was a better idea. (10-2)

-Rubino follows suit with an RBI stand-up triple of his own. I forgot he was even the leadoff hitter of the inning. (11-2)

-Another Michigan pitching change. Jay Perry in for Jasman.

-Ott walked.

-Ott picked off at first. Ott disagrees but the umpire clearly wants to go home at this point. The half-inning is finally over.
