D.J. Cooper added to Golden State Warriors Summer League roster

It didn't take long for D.J. Cooper to hear from NBA teams following Thursday night's 2013 NBA Draft. Cooper's agent confirmed to me late Friday night that the Golden State Warriors have added him to their roster in the 2013 Las Vegas Summer League. The Warriors were one of five teams Cooper worked out with prior to the NBA Draft and were one of the places most interested in him.

Cooper's agent told me via email that he received offers from several teams for the Las Vegas Summer League, but that the Warriors was the most "genuine".

The Las Vegas Summer League features a tournament style of play between the 22 teams competing, and takes place on the campus of UNLV. It runs runs from July 12-22.

During those ten days Cooper will get a chance to showcase his talents and possibly earn a spot on the Warriors roster as a backup to starting point guard Stephen Curry. Curry's backup from last season, veteran Jarrett Jack, is likely leaving due to free agency. They drafted Serbian guard Nemanja Nedovic at the end of the first round in Thursday's NBA Draft, but it's uncertain if he will come over right away or take a few years before joining the Warriors. The Warriors offer Cooper a good shot of making an NBA roster if he can impress them enough this summer.

But this isn't Cooper's only opportunity for Summer League action. His agent also confirmed that Cooper is considering competing in the Orlando Summer League, which features ten teams and takes place from July 7-12.
