Dri4Heisman: is he really that good?

The running back/ wide receiver/ kick returner/ punt returner/ water boy/ dog walker/Call of Duty champion is getting a lot of attention this morning. He's so good at everything I've just mentioned, Kent State started a campaign this morning for him to win the Heisman trophy.

Dave Reginek

Kentstatesports.com became the new official website to check out Kent State athletics news and updates today. What better way to say "check out our new website!" than to make a Heisman campaign for your football program's star athlete?

"When you think about the Heisman and the best college football player, it should be someone who is exciting... When you look at how electric [Dri Archer] is and the plays that he made, he's a natural fit. He's one of those players where every time he touches the ball he has a chance to make a big play, and I think people are really going to legitimately look at him as a Heisman candidate. Dri is all about doing what's best for the team, but when it comes to catching the attention of fans and media, we want to put him front and center."

-Coach Paul Haynes

Is he the best player in the Mid-American Conference? We haven't released where he ranks on our list, but Haynes clearly has him -not only as the best player in the conference, but- as the best player in the nation. I'm not going to go as far as Haynes here, but I don't think there's a coach out there that wouldn't want Archer on their team. I'm also going to go on the record here to say that he should definitely be on an NFL roster next year via Draft. Just check out his highlights from last year and tell me that I'm not making a farfetched statement.

It wasn't too long ago that Northern Illinois initiated their push to get quarterback Jordan Lynch the plane ride to New York when they came up with "Jordan Lynch for 6", either. But I feel like the other eleven schools want a piece of the pie, too. So to wrap this up, I've decided to make some Heisman campaigns for the rest of the schools in the MAC:

Akron Zips: Jawon Chisholm

"Jawonder boy"

Ball State Cardinals: Keith Wenning

"Keith Winning"

Bowling Green Falcons: BooBoo Gates

"His name is actually Jerry"

Buffalo Bulls: Khalil Mack

"#MACKtion"

Central Michigan Chippewas: Zurlon Tipton

"Touchdown Tipton"

Eastern Michigan Eagles: Bronson Hill

"Breisman"

Miami Red Hawks: Austin Boucher

"He kissed the GoDaddy dot com girl!"

Ohio Bobcats: Beau Blankenship

"Geau, Beau, Geau!"

Toledo Rockets: Terrance Owens

"I love it when you call me Big Padre"

UMass Minutemen: Mike Wegzyn

"Yf you want to wyn, put Wegzyn yn"

Western Michigan Broncos: Tyler Van Tubbergen

"Tyler Van Heismangen"
