Matt Shoemaker, the 26-year old from Wyandotte, Michigan, finally received his call-up to play at the major-league level. The right-handed pitcher has been a part of the Los Angeles Angels organization since 2008. He started 29 games in both of these last two seasons for AAA-affiliate Salt Lake Bees.

Back in his earlier years at EMU, Shoemaker set a single-season school record for saves (14) with a 3.97 ERA in 34 innings with 23 strikeouts in 2007.
