Austin Peay vs. Ohio: The Governors Have been Recalled

A 38-0 loss was not much of a surprise in the Austin Peay Governors' trip to Athens, Ohio, but the inability to score surely was a frustrating takeaway for the team.

The second half was somewhat better for a Governors squad that picked up 114 yards and had seven penalties for 49 yards in the first. Three missed field goals (as well as one that was blocked) continued a game muddled by Governor mistakes.

Austin Peay's Andrew Spivey passed the ball relatively well in the second half and put together several nice drives.

The Governors backs did nothing to look down upon as Tim Phillips and Omar Williams busted off some nice, hard-nosed runs, with Williams even breaking a 57-yarder. But the Ohio defense stayed firm near and in the Red Zone, forcing three AP field goal attempts in the second half. One wide left, one wide right, and one blocked by Ian Wells.

Ryan Boykin punched one in from a yard out for the first Bobcat touchdown in the second half with 6:34 remaining in the third. A 47-yard Josiah Yazdani field goal may spell the end of Matt Green's starting kicking duties for Ohio.

The Wells blocked FG set up a 54-yard drive in which Daz Patterson ran on all three plays. He capped things off with a 13-yard touchdown.

A Tim Edmond fumble set Austin Peay up with good field position, and a toss up by Timarious Mitchell put them on Ohio's ten with two seconds remaining, but an incomplete pass would spell the end.
