Bowling Green Hammering Murray State 27-0 at Halftime

Not much went wrong for the Falcons in the first half today against Murray State.  There was that punt on the first drive of the game, then there was a poorly thrown interception by Matt Johnson on the third...and that was about it.  Bowling Green ran up 376 yards of offense on just 48 plays and only gave up 117 to the Racers.  They had scoring drives of 99 and 97 yards.  They rushed for 204 yards and passed for 172.  In other words, the Falcons have been dominant in building a 27-0 lead.  (Oh, there was that missed extra point after the first touchdown...sorry.)

Johnson is 15-for-18 for 172 yards, two touchdowns and that pesky pick.  Travis Greene had 76 yards rushing in the first quarter and ended the half with 94 yards on 14 carries.  Johnson also had 20 yards on the ground, including a seven-yard keeper for a touchdown.  Jordan Hopgood had a 25-yard run, and William Houston even had 20 yards on five carries.  Johnson connected with seven different receivers, including Chris Gallon four times.  Two of those four catches went for touchdowns.  Shaun Joplin led the team with 41 receiving yards.

As a team, the Falcons were 6-for-7 on third down and converted all four of their red zone attempts into touchdowns.

We'll have more after the game.  Murray State will receive the second half kickoff.
