1st Quarter: Cardinals and Rockets tied at 10, already includes fumble recovery for score.

Everyone looked at this game as a possible candidate for full-on MACtion, and it's looking that way as the Ball State Cardinals and Toledo Rockets are tied at 10.

The Cardinals put points on the board on their first drive of the game, marching 75 yards in under 4 minutes, capped off by Jahwan Edwards pounding it in from 2 yards out.

Toledo has had two drives move down the field, but miscues have kept them out of the end zone. Their first drive stalled after Bernard Reedy was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, turning a 3rd and 3 into a 3rd and 19. Their second drive of the quarter also stalled when Terrance Owens passes slipped through the hands of his receivers. That set up a Jeremiah Detmer 45 yard field goal.

On the next possession, though, the Rockets started to put on the press, and it paid off: Jayrone Elliot came in from the end and hit Wenning just as he was about to throw, and Junior Sylvestre picked up the loose ball and ran it 23 yards for the score.

The Cardinals evened it up at the end of the quarter, a 55 yard pass from Wenning to Willie Snead put them in Toledo territory, but they settled for a 23 yard Scott Secor field goal.

One big stat so far: penalties. Toledo has already been flagged 4 times for 42 yards, while the Cardinals have a clean sheet so far.
