With Week 5 in the books, Jason Kirk, from the Mother Ship, re-figured his 2013 bowl projections. Last week, five Mid-American Conference teams were projected to go bowling, but this week an extra MAC team finds itself in the group.
All five of last week's projected teams still find themselves making the cut. Even Toledo, which lost to Ball St. yesterday. Joining the group of five is Buffalo, fresh off a 41-12 victory over the UConn Huskies. Besides the addition of the Bulls, not much has changed in the way of MAC bowl projections.
Recently ranked Northern Illinois is still projected to win the MAC and get the nod to the Little Casars Pizza Bowl, though now the Huskies are projected to face Texas Sate, as Western Kentucky is now projected to face Bowling Green in the GoDaddy Bowl. With Buffalo expected to get the nod for the Beef O'Brady's Bowl, against North Texas, Ball State's projected bowl is now the Military Bowl against Middle Tennesse State. Ohio and Toledo (BGSU also) stand still in their respective projected bowls.
Based off these projections, NIU would beat BGSU in the MAC Championship, with Ohio likely finishing third in the MAC overall, and Ball St., Toledo and Buffalo falling in line behind that.
Here's a full breakdown of the MAC's projected bowl appearances:
