MAC Players Of The Week: Week 5

Jordan Lynch leads the list of names, bringing home his third honor of the season, but not to be outdone, Bowling Green takes home its fourth Offensive Player of the Week honor of the year, this time with a different name getting the nod.

The Mid-American Conference Players of the Week for Week 5 were released Monday morning, and the list features a bunch of first timers for 2013. In the East, Bowling Green running back Travis Greene brings home the award for the first time this season after compiling 213 total offensive yards (142 rushing, 71 receiving) in the Falcon's 31-14 win over Akron.  He also had a pair of touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving. With Greene getting named POTW, it marks the fourth time this season a Bowling Green player has been named Offensive Player of the Week. Matt Johnson has earned the award twice, while fellow running back William Houston took home the honors in Week 1.

Rounding out the East is a pair of New York State at Buffalo, but still really want to emphasis New York, Bulls. Safety Adam Redden had five tackles, a pair of sacks, 2.5 tackles for loss and forced and recovered a fumble against UConn Saturday. Kicker Patrick Clarke was 2-for-4 on field goals, but managed to kick through field goals of 49 and 50 yards (a career best) in Buffalo's 41-12 win over UConn.

Out West, Jordan Lynch takes home he honors for a third time this season. The NIU quarterback led the Huskies to a historic 55-24 victory over Purdue, and has his team sitting at No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Lynch threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another one against the Boilermakers, finishing with 242 yards. BSU linebacker Kenneth Lee brought home the Defensive Player of the Week honor out West after racking up eight tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, an interception and a sack in the Cardinals 31-24 win over Toledo. Another NIU Huskies made the list, as kick returner TommyLee Lewis gets the nod for West Special Teams Player of the Week after bringing back a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Purdue; his fourth career kickoff returned for a touchdown.
