Jordan Broadnax ruled out of Maine game, Rob Blanchflower game-time decision

The news has finally come down on the other two outstanding injury cases for the UMass Minutemen and one will remain a mystery until Saturday afternoon. Junior running back Jordan Broadnax has been ruled out of Saturday's game against Maine while Rob Blanchflower will be a game-time decision, according to Dan Malone of MassLive.com.

Broadnax has been hobbled since the last week of training camp when he sustained a knee injury that required him to have the knee scoped. The injury was supposed to keep him out for two weeks, making him available for this game, but it appears as though it hasn't healed the way they expected.

Blanchflower, the team's captain and emotional leader, has been banged up since the first day the Minutemen put shoulder pads on and was ruled out late last week and has apparently improved enough that they are going to give him until game time to get right. That is somewhat encouraging news, but the Minutemen need Blanchflower on the field. Plain and simple.

Stacey Bedell will get the start at running back for the second straight week while Ricardo Miller and Derek Beck will continue to share time at tight end.
