Toledo finally finds the end zone, but trails Mizzou 31-23 after 3

Terrance Owens finally found his way into the end zone twice, but they continue to trail Missouri 31-23 after 3 quarters.

The second half picked up where the first half left off: with a pick. Toledo was set up at midfield when Owens was pressured by Markus Golden, and TO's attempt to get the ball out slipped out of his hands. Golden collected the pass and ran it 66 yards for a score.

Missouri was flagged for excessive celebration, though, which meant kicking off from their own 20 yard line. That gave Bernard Reedy his first chance at a kick return, which he returned 59 yards. The Rockets finally managed to cash in: Owens faked the handoff to Fluellen, and ran it in from 4 yards out for the first touchdown of the season.

Later in the quarter, Rockets were at midfield, facing 3rd and 1 when Owens found Alonzo Russell wide open, and the big sophomore made the grab and ran it in for the 41 yard score and bring the Rockets to within a point.

Tigers did manage to score on the final drive of the quarter, with James Franklin pitching it to Henry Josey on the option for the 1 yard score to give the Tigers the 8 point lead going into the final stanza.

Also of note, Mizzou LB Andrew Wilson was flagged for targeting, which means he gets the boot from the game. He was the Tigers top tackler for the last 2 years, which means there's a gaping hole that the Rockets will look to exploit.
