2013 Football: Week 2 scores and standings

Western Michigan and UMass both lost to FCS schools, Central barely escaped that headline. We also have our first MAC game of the year.

Bowling Green 41 - Kent State 22

Bowling Green wins the first in-conference game of the season. No Archer and an ineffective Trayion Durham will do that to you.

Ball State 40 - Army 14

Army had 76 passing yards in this one. They averaged 66.4 yards per game last season. Baby steps.

Buffalo 13 - #23 Baylor 70

Baylor totaled 781 yards of total offense and 10 touchdowns. Khalil Mack had four tackles. We'll all be ignoring Mel Kiper next week.

Ohio 27 - North Texas 21

North Texas's Derek Thompson threw for three touchdowns yesterday: two to his Mean Green, one to the Bobcats.

Akron 35 - James Madison 33

The Zips had two quarterbacks throw for over 140 yards and a pair of scores. I don't want to know why this was as close as it was, I want to know why James Madison went for the two-point conversion after their very first score of the game.

Western Michigan 23 - Nicholls State 27

The Broncos could be looking at a two-win season. But let's get to the real storyline:

Toledo 23 - Missouri 38

Toledo, up against another SEC school, made a respectable game. Future Padres minor league great Terrance Owens completed 26 of his 41 attempted pitches passes for 262 yards and a score. Well, two scores if we include the 70-yard pick six.

Miami 7 - Kentucky 41

The RedHawks were 1-for-16 on 3rd downs. Yikes

Eastern Michigan 7 - Penn State 45

A promising first half by the Eagles led to a 21-point fourth quarter by the Nittany Lions. Brogan Roback got some playing time, now settle down.

Central Michigan 24 - New Hampshire 21

It went down to the wire, but the Chips won off of a game-winning field goal in the final seconds of the ball game. Saylor Lavallii was their leading rusher, which shows how much depth CMU has in running backs with cool names.

UMass 14 - Maine 24

Sad news coming out of Boston, it doesn't look like Jacoby Ellsbury will be back to finish the season. I figured that'd be a better topic than UMass football.
