My how quickly things can change. Just Friday we reported on the state of the 2014 MAC Football recruiting classes, and the Eastern Michigan Eagles were in dead last with just four commits, that's changed aftero new head coach Chris Creighton picked up a pair of commitments today.
D'Marcus Moon and Christopher Bukoski verbally committed to the Eagles today according to 247Sports.com, as the first commitments Crieghton has received since taking over EMU over a month ago. Neither player is highly ranked, but for a recruiting class that was lacking in everything, their additions go a long way.
Moon, a 2-star inside linebacker recruit out of Fort Wayne, Ind. is the highlight of the duo. A Top-40 recruit out of the state of Indiana, Moon will be joining an Eagles linebacker core that is primarily young. At 6-foot-1, 225-pounds he has good size for an interior linebacker. Moon, who was recruited by Eagles' running backs coach Mike Hart committed just two days after taking an official visit to Ypsilanti, Mich..
Bukoski is the lesser known of the two. Not ranked by any scouting service, he's somewhat of a mystery. His only offer appears to be from EMU, and the only other recruiting activity I can find on him is a football camp he attended back in June at Michigan State.
Out of Dewitt High School in Dewitt, Mich., Bukoski was part of an offensive line that paved the way for a team total of 15 scores and 1,273 yards on the season. Dewitt went 13-1 on the season, losing in the Division 3 State Championship. At 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds he could stand to bulk up a bit, but has the frame to do so.
With the addition of these two recruits, EMU has actually moved up to No. 12 in 247Sports.com's MAC recruiting class rankings, ahead of Kent State by fractions of point.
With just 17 days to go until National Signing Day, Creighton still has a long ways to go, but EMU fans have a new pair of reasons to be hopeful about this class.
