Just days before the Cardinals take the field in the 2014 GoDaddy.Com Bowl, they got some good news off the field. Vontae Diggs, a 3-star outside linebacker recruit, verbally committed to Ball State Friday, per 247sports.com.

Diggs joins a class that now has 18 commits, including another outside linebacker. However, Diggs is currently the highest rated recruit in the class according to 247sports.com which has him graded out at 83.

The 6-foot-4-inch, 200-pound linebacker out of Downers North High School in Downers Grove, Ill. is ranked as the No. 35 recruit in the state, and a Top-90 recruit nationally at his position. Diggs had previously committed to Toledo in June, but revoked his verbal in late August. He carries offers from Toledo and Western Michigan, as well as Eastern Illinois.

Vontae Davis talks with Chicago Land Preps about a loss in the playoffs to Mount Carmel (Jordan Lynch's old school) and his future.

According to an interview Diggs did earlier this season, he plays multiple positions for Downers Grove, including defensive end and quarterback, however his frame and skill set have him slated to be an outside linebacker for the Cardinals.
