Saturday Open Thread: A Basketball Marathon and Football Championship Saturday

Nine basketball games await us in the MAC today. Plus there are some pretty big football games, right?

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

So it's the day after the MAC Championship Game. You're either ecstatic if you're a Huskie or completely downtrodden if you're a Falcon. The Huskies have a decent chance of getting into a New Year's Day game depending on what happens today. Here is the schedule for all of the big football games going on today:

Match-Up Time TV
Louisiana Tech - Marshall 12:00 ESPN2
Alabama - Missouri 4:00 CBS
Kansas State - Baylor 7:45 ESPN
Florida State - Georgia Tech 8:00 ABC
Wisconsin - Ohio State 8:17 Fox
Fresno State - Boise State 10:00 CBS

NIU really needs both Marshall and Boise State to lose to have a sniff at making a big bowl game. If that happens, it'll benefit the rest of the MAC as well. The conference has six teams eligible to go to bowl games, but only five tie-ins. If NIU goes to a New Year's Day bowl, all eligible MAC teams should be able to go bowling, which is awesome.

Also, there are nine basketball games today with one starting right at noon. The biggies are St. Bonaventure-Ohio, Eastern Michigan-Dayton, and Western Michigan-Northeastern. Those games will tell us a lot about the mettle of three of the better teams in the conference. Here's the full slate of games for today:

Match-up Time TV/Streaming
Kent State @ Kennesaw State 12:00 ESPN3
SIU-Edwardsville @ Central Michigan 1:00 ESPN3
St. Bonaventure @ Ohio 2:00 OhioBobcats.com
Eastern Michigan @ Dayton 2:00 Fox Sports Detroit & Ohio
Indiana State @ Ball State 2:00
Chicago State @ Toledo 2:00 UTRockets.com
Alabama A&M @ Bowling Green 4:00
Western Michigan @ Northeastern 4:00
Miami @ IPFW 7:00

Let us know what you're watching. Or if you still want to celebrate your MAC Championship Huskie fans, go nuts.
