Alex Bayer the two time 3rd team All-MAC Bowling Green State tight end is now a St. Louis Ram after signing with them as an undrafted free agent.
Bayer was a great weapon for BGSU. The 2012, 2013 John Mackey Mid-Season Watch List member caught 37 passes, 593 yards, averaged 42.4 yards receiving per game with 4 touchdowns. The 257 pound 6 foot 4 Tight End was also a great run blocker for BGSU helping his teammate Travis Greene set the record for most rushing yards by a BGSU Running Back last season.
The four year starter at BGSU was named team captain by his teammates last season. He has played in at least 12 games the last four years. So he is either really lucky for not getting hurt in four years or extremely durable at the TE position. Before college he was also an Ohio Prep baseball player.

The Rams are getting a TE that still needs some molding. Bayer is slower than most TE in this year's draft class, with his below average wheels he doesn't get away from his defender during his routes. His longest touchdown in four years was 57 yards. Not a touchdown scorer, only 4 last year. He is not a good enough blocker that you can push inside to make an offensive lineman.
