The grand UMass FBS experiment in the MAC has not gone so well. Two seasons into the experiment, the Minutemen have won two games, fired a coach, and after the 2015 season will be without the MAC, their home through this rocky adjustment. But entering the third season as an FBS team the talent level, and th energy level, around the Minutemen program has improved.
The team is moving back to its actual home stadium, Mark Whipple—who led the program to FCS glory 15 years ago—is back, and there's finally some depth on the roster. But with a rough non-conference slate, and questions at wide receiver and defensive line, can the Minutemen take that next step, or will 2014 be another year of disappointment for the fans?
