The Huskies find their way out of the Top 5 while Central Michigan moves up to No. 4.

The Toledo Rockets are now a ranked team and have easily been named our unanimous top-ranked team in the Mid-American Conference. After that, we sort of keep Bowling Green at second and the rest got interesting.

Rank Team Points (First place picks) Preseason Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4
1 Toledo 13 (13) 1 2 1 1 1
2 Bowling Green 27 3 4 2 3 2
3 Ohio 48 7 7 4 4 4
4 Central Michigan 57 10 9 6 8 7
5 Western Michigan 63 4 3 5 5 5
6 Northern Illinois 73 2 1 3 2 3
7 Ball State 88 5 5 7 6 6
8 Buffalo 111 8 8 8 7 8
9 Massachusetts 122 6 6 9 9 10
10 Akron 123 9 11 11 10 9
11 Kent State 141 12 13 12 12 11
12 Eastern Michigan 150 13 12 10 11 12
13 Miami 167 12 10 13 13 13

The Chippewas taking advantage of the late mistakes by the Huskies helped put them in the driver's seat and are certainly much better than many had expected to this point. Before the season started, we had them as the No. 10 team in the MAC, but have climbed up showing consistently good defense and a 10-point win over Northern Illinois on Saturday. That loss by NIU was their third straight loss and has one of the worst passing offenses in the MAC and they have slid down to 6.

Toledo beat Ball State in Muncie, taking out their run game and limiting Riley Neal's success. The Cardinals slide down to 7 while UMass moves up to 9 after they grabbed their first win of the season over Florida International.

Ohio beat Akron by two, moving the Bobcats up to 3 from 4, then Akron moves down a spot to 10. The Bowling Green Falcons beat Buffalo on the road 28-22, the Falcons just do what they're supposed to do and stay at 2 while Buffalo also remains where they are at 8. Western Michigan had a bye week but stay put at 5. Kent State beat Miami in their MAC opener, but Kent State still stayed at 11 while Eastern Michgian's 44-22 loss to LSU kept them at 12.
