Bowling Green Falcons vs. Central Michigan Chippewas Preview: Two teams try to keep pace in their respective divisions

Can the Chips stay undefeated at McGuirk?

While signing day might dominate the headlines, there's basketball still to be played in the MAC as Central Michigan hosts the Falcons of Bowling Green in Mount Pleasant Wednesday night.

Central Michigan (15-4, 5-3) comes into the game following a mixed week against MAC East teams. A showdown with Kent State ended in a Golden Flashes victory, but the Chippewas were able to rebound Saturday against Ohio.

Most notably, Central Michigan brings a flawless home record into the game against perhaps their biggest home challenge yet. The Chippewas are led by their captain, junior guard Chris Fowler, with key supporting roles played by forward John Simons and guard Rayshawn Simmons, who have been a nightmare for both opposing defenses and play-by-play announcers. Another noteworthy Chip to watch is redshirt freshman sharpshooter Josh Kozinski, who has been absolutely lethal from beyond the arc.

The Falcons (13-6, 5-3) had a similar week to the Chippewas, losing a hard-fought game to Akron after a mid-week victory against NIU. The Falcons are led by senior forward Richaun Holmes, and have seen strong play of late from Zack Denny and Anthony Henderson. Bowling Green also brings a one game series win streak into the matchup, having won last year's battle at the Stroh Center

One thing to take note of will be the game attendance. McGuirk Arena drew the second and third largest crowds in its brief history the past two games, but it remains to be seen whether the CMU faithful will fill the arena on a school night.

The game tips off at 7 PM EDT, and will be streaming live at ESPN3.com or via the WatchESPN app.
