Central Michigan to face Louisiana Tech in NIT

#3MU's season isn't over yet

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The 2015 NIT bracket has officially been released and the Central Michigan Chippewas have been selected to be a 6-seed and will face off against 3-seed Louisiana Tech in the opening round on Tuesday at 7:30. The game won't be televised but will be available for live streaming on ESPN3.

CMU got to the NIT for winning the regular season MAC Championship. The regular season champion in every conference is guaranteed a spot in the NIT, regardless of how well they do in their respective conference tournament.

Louisiana Tech won the Conference USA regular season championship with a 15-3 conference record and a 25-8 regular season record. The Bulldogs didn't beat any NCAA Tournament teams outside of C-USA Tournament Champ UAB during the regular season. The two teams have only played once before, a 104-85 loss in 1992.

The winner of the CMU-Louisiana Tech game would move on to the second round to face either Texas A&M or Montana.
