Sporting KC have loaned former Akron Zip Saad Abdul-Salaam to the San Antonio Scorpions of the North American Soccer League.

Abdul-Salaam, a talented defender, joins teammate Jon Kempin in San Antonio, as both figure to play a large role for the reigning NASL champions. So far the season hasn't gotten off to the start that the Scorpions would want, as they sit at the bottom of the table after two games and conceded this audacious goal.

At 6-foot-4 and 185 lbs. Abdul-Salaam is the ideal candidate for a central defender who looks to assert himself in the defensive third.

But San Antonio has a game in the hand and with the additions of Abdul-Salaam and Kempin, things are looking up for the Scorpions. Abdul-Salaam recorded three goals and 12 assists over 54 games for Akron and became the No. 12 overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft.

Abdul-Salaam joins Sinisa Ubiparapovic (Ottowa Fury), Zach Portillos (Tampa Bay Rowdies) and David Meves (Fort Lauderdale Strikers) in the NASL.
