Before most of the world could finish their breakfast the Toledo coaching staff were hard at work locking up a verbal commitment from one of the most underrated running backs in the state of Ohio this morning. As first reported by Allen Trieu of Scout.com, the Rockets have added a pledge from Holy Name standout Shakif Seymour.
"I felt most comfortable there. They are close to my mother and family. I also felt it would give me the best opportunity to be successful on and off the field." Seymour stated to Hustle Belt as a few of the reasons why he decided to suit up for the Rockets over reported scholarship offers from fellow Mid-American Conference programs such as Buffalo, Kent State, Miami, and Western Michigan.
Using a mixture of speed and toughness, Seymour put together a more than solid junior campaign last season and was named Division IV First-Team All-Ohio after he rushed for well over 1,600 yards and scored a total of 24 touchdowns for Holy Name who finished the year off 6-4.
The 6'0 205 pound Parma Heights native is the fifth prospect to join Matt Campbell's class of 2016. Off to a strong start, Seymour adds his name alongside running back Ronnie Jones (Pittsburgh,PA/Central Catholic), athlete Billy Kisner (Pittsburgh,PA/Penn Hills), tight end Nate Swart (Washington,PA/Washington), and defensive back Alonzo McCoy (Detroit,MI/Redford).
