2016 Toledo Football Recruiting: RB Shakif Seymour Commits To Rockets

The Rockets add another piece to the puzzle.

Before most of the world could finish their breakfast the Toledo coaching staff were hard at work locking up a verbal commitment from one of the most underrated running backs in the state of Ohio this morning. As first reported by Allen Trieu of, the Rockets have added a pledge from Holy Name standout Shakif Seymour.

"I felt most comfortable there. They are close to my mother and family. I also felt it would give me the best opportunity to be successful on and off the field." Seymour stated to Hustle Belt as a few of the reasons why he decided to suit up for the Rockets over reported scholarship offers from fellow Mid-American Conference programs such as Buffalo, Kent State, Miami, and Western Michigan.

Using a mixture of speed and toughness, Seymour put together a more than solid junior campaign last season and was named Division IV First-Team All-Ohio after he rushed for well over 1,600 yards and scored a total of 24 touchdowns for Holy Name who finished the year off 6-4.

The 6'0 205 pound Parma Heights native is the fifth prospect to join Matt Campbell's class of 2016. Off to a strong start, Seymour adds his name alongside running back Ronnie Jones (Pittsburgh,PA/Central Catholic), athlete Billy Kisner (Pittsburgh,PA/Penn Hills), tight end Nate Swart (Washington,PA/Washington), and defensive back Alonzo McCoy (Detroit,MI/Redford).
