2016 Ohio Football Recruiting: LB Eric Popp Talks Offer

The Bobcats are the first FBS offer for Popp.

After catching the eye of the Ohio University coaching staff during camp earlier in the week, Loveland (OH) standout linebacker Eric Popp received an offer from the Bobcats on Thursday evening.

"I went to the OU camp on Monday and called coach (Ron) Collins today (Thursday). He said I was what they were looking for and believe I am a great fit and could be a huge addition for OU." Popp stated to Hustle Belt.

Previously receiving an offer from Morehead State, the Bobcats are the first FBS program to give the 6'1 215-pound prospect a full ride scholarship.

"It's a big weight lifted off of my shoulders knowing I have a place to play in the future. When I think of Ohio, tradition and the coaches are the two things that come to mind."

With his first major offer now on the table, Popp is waiting to hear from other programs before giving a school a pledge. Even though he isn't in a rush, Eric does have a game plan in mind for when he wants to shut the door on his recruitment.

"I'd like to have it done and out of the way by the start of the season so I can fully focus on the season. The biggest thing for me would be a great relationship with the coaches, seeing that they are dedicated and that I can work with them."
