Earlier this evening John Bonamego and the Central Michigan coaching staff landed their fifth verbal commitment of the 2016 cycle when three-star defensive end Leon Page of Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Detroit, Michigan decided to end his recruitment and verbally commit to the Chippewas over scholarship offers from Mid-American Conference programs such as Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, and Miami.
"I was talking to head coach Bonamego and he asked when I was making my decision and I said well, we talked about it and I told him I wanted to play for Central Michigan. He jumped up and congratulated me." The 6'3 225 pound Page told Hustle Belt soon after announcing his intentions to suit up for the Chippewas.
"CMU just felt like family and it fits me. (When I think of CMU football) Winning, family, and love comes to mind." Page added.
With his recruitment now over, Page plans to help the Central Michigan coaching staff recruit some of the top players in the state to join him in Mount Pleasant. Defensive back and current Toledo pledge Alonzo McCoy, and his Martin Luther King Jr. teammates, three-star cornerback Dontre Boyd, and under-the-radar linebacker Lawrence Bryant are just a few on his radar at the moment.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Page is currently ranked the 68th strong-side defensive end, and 1,408th overall prospect in the 2016 class.
