Belt Loops: Some Patriotic MAC Thoughts

New, 7 comments

In what shall now be called "MAC Thoughts" instead of "Random MAC Thoughts" Kaleb goes over some random thoughts from across the Belt and around the conference.

As we approach the celebration of our nation's independence, returning is MAC Thoughts. Which are you more excited for? Just kidding, we know you're more excited for #MACtion than anything. It wasn't even a serious question.

MAC News Thought Roundup

  • So in MAC-related news...Hey look! NIU women's basketball got a new coach.
  • Akron football had the worst home attendance in the country last year. Yikes. That doesn't look good on #MACtion. Are we sure EMU shouldn't be in this position?
  • Ohio softball will be holding tryouts come late August. Wonder what the likelihood of the squad picking up any students is.
  • Some Miami RedHawks alumni are moving around the NHL this offseason. Teams are hungry for some Miami hockey talent it seems.
  • This isn't really news, but I'm still kind of mad that NIU didn't choose the cornstalks design...

Elsewhere on Hustle Belt

  • This is awesome. This is awesome. This is awesome. You can not tell me otherwise. #LegDay
  • Our Top 70 player countdown is underway. Any hot takes about our selections thus far? Where's Jordan Lynch?
  • On one hand, I was excited that Richaun Holmes had been drafted. And then I realized that it was in fact the 76ers who had drafted him. Chris Manning took a stab at theorizing how he might fit in with the organization. Given the fact that Philly took several big guys, I'm not sure Holmes will factor in this year at all. Hello 87ers. I'd be remise if I didn't mention in the same breath how our boy Maurice Ndour is going to take his talents to the Garden (maybe). He's a project player, sure. But he could potentially be a respectable third or fourth guy of the bench in my honest opinion.

Outside the MAC

  • Bo Ryan is retiring. I has a sad.
  • I went to an Against Me! concert Tuesday night. it was rad. I got a t-shirt. I am pleased. Unfortunately, no one took me up on my offer of a free ticket after my friend bailed because he had to work. Shame. <--Good song. Laura Jane Grace (the singer) is just..the absolute best. Their album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues.
  • The USWNT (United States Women's National Team) is set for the World Cup final as they face off with Japan once more. I am stoked, and I believe that we will win. Stars and Stripes FC does some pretty good coverage, so you should check them out.
  • NBA free agency is upon us. Are you not entertained? Would love to hear what some people have to say about signings and trades thus far.
  • Also, Bree Newsome is my new hero.
Remember to commemorate the 4th of July by speaking truth to power my friends!
