The UMass Minutemen have completed their 2016 football schedule for their first year as an FBS independent. After adding a road game against the South Carolina Gamecocks and a home matchup with the FCS Wagner Seahawks, UMass' first season schedule post-#MACtion is complete. The addition of the guarantee game at South Carolina gives the Minutemen three contests against SEC opponents in 2016. They open the season at Florida and also host Mississippi State at Gillette Stadium. Additionally, the Minutemen's previously scheduled road game at Appalachian State in 2016 has been moved to 2020.
