it was a good day for soccer in the Mid-American conference Monday as Pat Flynn of Bowling Green and Richard Hall of Northern Illinois received a major honor by being named to the College Soccer News National team of the week.
Flynn solo
Flynn had an exceptional week for the Falcons, recording a goal and an assist in a game against Southern Illinois Edwardsville before scoring a hat trick in a game against Western Illinois. This has only added to the fanfare around Flynn after his stellar freshman season in which he scored 14 goals.
He is also on the MAC Hermann watch list for the top collegiate soccer players in the country. He joins Adam Najem of Akron and Jackie Hall of Buffalo as the only members from the MAC.
This is also the second time Flynn has been named to the College Soccer News National team of the week with the first coming in the week of Sept. 22 of 2014.
Hall-ing in the plaudits
Hall was also named to the College Soccer News National team of the week, and for good reason, as he scored the game-winning goal in NIU's season opener against Green Bay. The goal came from a sensational free kick that froze the Green Bay keeper on his line and settled inside the back post.
He also limited the Phoenixes to five shots and one shot on goal on the defensive end of the pitch.
Hall is the first NIU player to earn the honor since 2011.
