Morning Dump: CMU made the College Football Playoff! Sorta. Well, not really.

A coaching legend represents the MAC for the first time in College Football Playoff history, and Major League Soccer gets a double dose of #MACtion.

  • I'm pretty much killing the lead here, but Herb Deromedi, a legend at Central Michigan both as a head coach and an athletic director, was named to the College Football Playoff Selection Committee yesterday. I had the opportunity to interview the current College Football Hall of Famer recently to talk about CMU football and the state of coaching today.
  • Speaking of CMU football, Coach Bonamego and his staff got a big time recruit in Lansing Catholic HS QB Tony Poljan this past week. Poljan, who also held offers to play other positions from Michigan State, Nebraska, and Minnesota, is a beast of a prospect, measuring at 6'7", 235 pounds as a dual-threat quarterback (15 passing touchdowns and 25 rushing touchdowns.) The three-star prospect was recently interviewed by the Lansing State-Journal, where he stated he has also thought about playing basketball at CMU.
  • Under Armour took over uniform services for Kent State starting this season for basketball and other sports, but football won't sport their new digs until 2016. If this recruit's Instagram post has anything to hint at, it's that literally nothing has changed. Except the font. Maybe? I dunno.

  • The MLS SuperDraft concluded this past Thursday, and it turns out that Richie Lareya was not the only player representing the #MACtion. Rick James, a midfielder from Bowling Green, was selected 52nd overall by Sporting Kansas City and looks to join a stacked SKC midfield.
  • Eastern Michigan swept the Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week Award, with Klara Supejova winning in both singles and doubles, while partner Andrea Martinovska also won in the doubles. The pair, both hailing from Prague, Czech Republic, went undefeated over the week.
  • Bundle up, Chirpers. It's kinda cold outside.
