Jalen Jackson went a perfect 8 of 8 from the field, scoring 24 points as he led the Trojans to a victory of the Central Michigan Chippewas, 91-79 on the final day of the Lone Star Showcase. The Chippewas fall to 4-2 early on the season, while Arkansas Little Rock moves to 4-2 on the season.
Kemy Osse also had a strong night, as he scored 20 points and grabbed eight defensive rebounds. Marcus Johnson Jr. and Maurius Hill both added 14 points each for the Trojans, as well as grabbing nine rebounds combined.
For Central Michigan, Marcus Keene led all scorers with 32 points while dishing out five assists on the night. David DiLeo added 11 points off the bench, hitting three of his six three pointers on the night and scoring another two points.
The Chippewas shot 35.2% on the night, 25 of 71 shooting, while connecting on a season tying 13 three pointers as a team. The Chippewas were able to convert at the free throw line all contest, as they finished at a strong 88.9% from the charity stripe, 16 of 18.
The Trojans, on the other hand, shot a 66% clip on the night. They were able to make 33 of their 50 attempted shots, and cashing in six of 13 from beyond the arc. The Trojans struggled to make their free throws, as they shot a 65.5% from the stripe, 19 of 29.
The Chippewas were able to out rebound the Trojans, 35 to 34 on the night, and force 14 turnovers, but the Trojans continued to knock down shots from all around the court. It was just one of those nights where no matter what the Chips did defensively, the Trojans would still find the bottom of the net.
The Chips were able to take one of the three games of this showcase and will play again on Saturday after Thanksgiving. The Chips will take on the Green Bay Phoenix at 3 p.m. in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin.
