Prosecutors have now filed murder and armed robbery charges against a Western Michigan University basketball player in the killing of a fellow student last week.
Due for arraignment on Monday in a Kalamazoo County court, Joeviair Kennedy will stand for last Thursday's fatal shooting of 19-year-old Jacob Jones in an off-campus apartment. It is not known if Kennedy has retained counsel at this time.
It is alleged that Kennedy killed Jones during a robbery for a phone and cash. There were witnesses present at the time of the robbery that helped lead to Kennedy’s arrest and subsequent charges.
Kennedy was in his second year for the Broncos, but has since been suspended from the school and removed from the athletics website.
