Mike Neu landed his first commitment for the class of 2017 on Monday afternoon. However, this "neu" era has not started with just any recruit, coach Neu has reeled in a 3-star recruit to get this recruiting class started with a bang.
TE Peyton Hendershot chose the Cardinals over reported offers from Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Illinois State, Miami, Syracuse, and Western Michigan.
The fact that Ball State is showing an ability to recruiting against programs such as Cincinnati and Syracuse is a promising sign for the Cardinal's fan base.
Hendershot currently plays both defensive end and tight end in high school, however he seems to project well at tight end in college.
At 6-foot-4 215 pounds, he certainly has the frame to develop into a reliable target for rising sophomore quarterback Riley Neal, who looks to be the quarterback of the future in Muncie. Hendershot is rated as a three star recruit by 247Sports, top 20 in the state of Indiana, and top 40 tight end for the class of 2017.
Hustle Belt has reached out to Hendershot for comment on his commitment and will update the article as needed.
In the meantime, check out Hendershot's junior highlights courtesy of Hudl:
