2017 Toledo Football Recruiting: OL Mitch Berg commits to Rockets

The Rockets pick up a commitment from another local prospect.

The Toledo Rockets class of 2017 is off to a nice start. Coming into the week with six verbal commitments, Jason Candle and the UT staff locked up their seventh pledge on Tuesday afternoon.

Following in the footsteps of his Toledo St. John's Jesuit teammate Tycen Anderson, offensive tackle Mitch Berg will suit up for the Rockets on the college level.

"When I think of Toledo football, I think of great coaches, and a winning program. The Rockets program is a family and you go watch their practices and sit in on their meetings. The coaches are great when you meet with them. It's not just football, football, football. They ask you what's going on and would check in every week with me." The 6'5, 265-pound Berg stated to Hustle Belt soon after his ending his recruitment.

Berg, who is currently considered the 151st offensive tackle, and 1,780th overall prospect in the class of 2017, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, had his fair share of offers on the table, and interest coming from programs before deciding to stay close to home in the Glass City. Fellow Mid-American Conference programs Bowling Green, and Kent State were just a couple of the schools that gave him a chance to continue his playing days and education on the college level.
