This will be the first meeting between the two programs.

The countdown to Lexington begins.

In a statement released today by Toledo vice president and athletic director Mike O'Brien, it was announced that the Rockets will visit the Kentucky Wildcats on Aug. 31, 2019 as part of a one-off series.

The game would be the program's first meeting in their respective histories. The game will open the season for both programs in 2019.

The game is to be played in Kentucky's Commonwealth Stadium. it is currently unknown how much the agreement will cost. Toledo is 1-3 against SEC foes, winning a matchup against Arkansas in Little Rock last year.

The game will mark the second MAC team the Wildcats have scheduled for 2019; earlier this year, UK announced a three-game home-and-home contract with Eastern Michigan, which features a return date in 2019.  The Wildcats will also play the UT-Martin Skyhawks (Nov. 23) and rival Louisville (Nov. 30.)

Toledo fills a third date in their 2019 schedule, which currently has Colorado State (Sept. 21) and BYU (Sept. 28.) This leaves room for one more opponent that season.
