Toledo has had a lot of prior and previous success recruiting in the state of Florida. Within the 2017 recruiting class, the Rockets already have three prospects currently committed. Well, the coaching staff still has one Sunshine state target still left on the board in Tampa (Fla.) ATH Travell Harris.
The Rockets have been in the drivers seat for quite sometime within Harris’ recruitment. Toledo may have taken an even bigger leap as his leader after his recent visit to the Rockets late last month.
“My visit went well, the only bad thing was the rain, but I saw the campus and sat down with the entire coaching staff,” Harris mentioned about his visit. “I also had a long conversation with Coach Candle. The coaches showed me how they would use me in their offense.
“I spent a lot of time with the whole coaching staff, Coach Sage, Coach Cande, Coach Blackwell and all of them. I think they are a great group of guys. I really like the coaching staff and the things they are trying to do this year.”
Harris wasn’t alone on his visit to Toledo, he was accompanied by Toledo commits Bentlee Sanders, Darius Corbett, and Caleb Martin. All three of those fellow friends played the recruiter role on his visit.
“I went up there with two Toledo commits: Bentlee Sanders and Darius Corbett. I know those two very well and while I was there I was also with Caleb Martin. They were all really trying to get me to commit.”
Harris is closing in on a decision with his list of top ten schools. However, his actual commitment might be more of a wait. But after his successful visit to Toledo, the Rockets still remain his leader.
“Toledo is still my leader, but I don’t know when I’ll commit. I only get this chance once in my life, so I want to make the best of it. They are my leader because I have a great relationship with Coach Candle and the staff, the visit did help.”
Harris is still considering programs like Bowling Green, Colorado State, Marshall and Western Kentucky. He is a major target for the Rockets and could make an immediate impact on the next level at the slot position.
