Toledo’s 2017 Class Ambassador, Caleb Martin, talks playing the “Recruiter” role

2017 Fort Recovery (Ohio) Toledo commit QB Caleb Martin is as good as they come at recruiting other prospects to join him. But who is he pursuing for the Rockets?

Every recruiting class in the country has their “recruiter”, the guy who knows how to pursue other prospects in his class and get him to join his program. The coaches love those type of guys, they take some of the recruiting load off of them. For Toledo’s 2017 recruiting class, that guy is Fort Recovery (Ohio) three-star QB Caleb Martin.

Martin, has been committed to the Rockets since March. His love for the Rockets and endless pursuit on the recruiting trail has helped put together a very impressive class so far. The Toledo Class Ambassador, isn’t looking for just any recruits with Toledo offers, but guys who are willing to put the work in.

“I've just really been trying to focus on surrounding myself with Toledo type guys,” Martin said. “Guys that want to put in the work every single day once we get there to be successful and to carry on the winning tradition in the Glass City.”

Toledo currently sits with the second best recruiting class in the MAC, only behind Western Michigan. However, the Rockets still have a ton of major prospects left on the board and Martin knows it. As a result, he has been pushing hard on the recruiting trail.

“I've been really pushing hard for Morgan Ellison, Mike Warren and Travell Harris. I think those three all have us at the top or near the top for sure. Also been talking to Chauncey Smart a little and Joshua Maize is really interested.”

“Just by telling about how they'd fit in the offense and guys like Morgan and Mike, I'm telling them that we'd have one of the most electric backfields in the country if they join me back there. I know Travell and Chauncey would fit great because they're incredibly fast and they could replace a guy like Corey Jones on the inside.”

Toledo’s Class Ambassador doesn’t just recruit by messaging targets. He plans to be in the Glass City for the first four home games of the season. During his time there, Martin looks forward to enjoying his future home and like he does best, recruiting prospects.

“I'll more than likely be at the first four home games this fall hopefully and then I'll take my official sometime this winter. I will always recruit guys to Toledo when I’m on campus.”

Martin is still being pursed by some smaller Big Ten schools and others. However, he has informed me that he is hundred-percent committed to Jason Candle and the Rockets. So, the class ambassador has officially shut down his recruitment. Expect some big things and an even bigger impact from Martin because he is as good as they come in recruiting.
