It wouldn’t be the ramp up to college football if it weren’t for the annual releasing of the preseason polls. The writers that cover college football will have their attempt at prognostication later this month, but today was the Coaches’ Poll! You’d think that it would be the most accurate poll around since it is filled out by people who get paid a very handsome sum to do this thing they are ranking.

That’s an error in thinking, largely because it’s misguided in operating under the assumption that the head coach is filling out his weekly ballot. Sorry to break it to you but most (if not all) don’t. They pawn it off on a GA or an SID and it’s one of those dirty little secrets that everyone knows, everyone pretty much admits, but no one seems to care all that much.

Let’s see here... Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Florida State.... WAIT A SECOND. Look down at the bottom of that poll! That’s right, baby, two Mid-American Conference members getting some votes in the 2016 Coaches’ Preseason Football Poll. I don’t even care that it was probably another MAC coach throwing some love to a fellow brethren of the rust belt. I takes it how I can gets it.
