Toledo added an under-the-radar linebacker into the fold earlier this week with the commitment of Derrick Barnes.
The news was first reported by Scout’s Toledo site.
Holy Cross, KY 2017 LB Derrick Barnes has committed to #Toledo.

Toledo was the only school to offer Barnes according to 247Sports, however it’s clear the coach Candle and his staff saw something they like in Barnes. As any avid MAC fan knows, some of the most successful players in the conference’s history were severely under-recruited out of high school. Just ask Khalil Mack.
Barnes currently attends Holy Cross high school located in Louisville, Kentucky. As a junior he accumulated 126 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, as well as four interceptions. He also plays some running back for Holy Cross, however projects at linebacker at the next level.
