2017 Western Michigan Football Recruiting: DL Dezmond Lance commits to the Broncos

NCAA Football: Western Michigan at Toledo Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Western Michigan added their 24th commitment of the 2017 recruiting class on Friday afternoon.

Lance chose the Broncos over reported offers from fellow in-state MAC program, CMU and EMU.

As a Michigan native who currently attend Adlai Stevenson high school, it seemed like staying close to home was a big factor in Lance’s decision.

The 6-foot-2 265 pound defensive lineman is rated a 2-star recruit by Scout, while is unranked by 247Sports currently.

Shortly after his commitment, Lance caught up with Hustle Belt to discuss his decision.

When asked why he chose WMU, he responded by saying:

“(They) have a great program that I love and the coaching staff are all good people they can be great role models for me.”

Although he plays both offensive and defensive line in high school, Lance is expected to play on the defensive side of the ball at WMU. Lance is the fourth defensive tackle to join this class and should provide some nice depth for the Broncos. After getting acclimated to the lifestyle of an FBS student-athlete, Lance has the potential to develop into a steal.
