Another quick post this week. It was a fairly predictable week, with only Akron really pulling a surprise on us. Therefore, a lot of people had great weeks. But our winner this week showed how to use the Game of the Week, while protecting on the 1 point pick. So congrats to OUbobcat9092.
On to this week!
Wyoming @ Eastern Michigan (CBSSN) - Call me a MAC homer, but I like the Eagles at home. Nobody has beaten Wyoming on their turf (NIU included), but when your stadium’s elevation is the highest in D-I football, that’s a hell of a home field advantage.
Kent State @ #1 Alabama (SECN) - Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
Central Michigan @ Virginia (ACCN) - The Chippewas should win this one going away. Virginia is the Kansas of the East. However, if they lose...........I’m not held responsible for the trolling that will take place in the week leading up to The Game.
Gardner-Webb @ Ohio - Sebastian Smith appears to be back, and that’s a good thing for the Bobcats. The surprising thing is they are 0-2 with him and 1-0 without.
Appalachian State @ Akron - Akron scored off a blocked punt and a strip sack against Marshall. They also picked off three passes. However, there were 30 penalties in that game. I like App State to rebound off that Miami loss and bring the Zips back down to Earth.
Miami @ Cincinnati (ESPNnews) - Miami hasn’t won a game. Cincy was leading Houston in the 4th quarter. End of discussion.
Western Illinois @ Northern Illinois - Guess which team is undefeated and guess which team is winless. Guess again. I still like the Huskies after their somewhat OK showing against a now ranked San Diego State team. If they lose this one though, Carey may be gone before the day is over.
Ball State @ Florida Atlantic - The Owls are bad. Like, very bad. Neal gets the Cardinals halfway to bowl eligibility before MAC play
Army @ Buffalo - Army is 3-0. That’s not a typo. They also haven’t allowed more than 14 points in a game this season, and have scored at least 4 TDs each game. This ain’t your father’s Army team. More like your grandfather’s.
Georgia Southern @ Western Michigan - It’s possible WMU could have their 3rd game of the week this week with the solid Eagle squad in town. Last year was a blow-out in humid conditions. The forecast for this week? 60% chance of rain and temps in the 60’s. The Bronco run defense has looked impressive, and we’ll see just how far they’ve come against the option offense GaSo runs.
Bowling Green @ Memphis (ESPNnews) - Wait, THIS GAME is on ESPNnews and not WMU/Georgia Southern? I get Memphis is still good, but Bowling Green is awful this year.
