Goodfellas said Saturday was for the wives but Fridays at the Copa was for the girlfriends. When it comes to football, Saturdays are for football, but Fridays are for MACtion. Well call up your girlfriend and have the Copa throw it on CBS Sports Network at 7:30 and kill two birds with one stone.
Eastern Michigan comes in to tonight’s game with the chance to put a 3-1 non-conference schedule together, and an argument could be easily made that with a victory over Wyoming, EMU would have a tangible piece of evidence that perhaps they are not destined for the cellar in the outstanding MAC West. Their two wins have been over FCS Mississippi Valley State and (barely) FBS Charlotte, sandwiched around a 40-point blowout on the road against Missouri.
Wyoming, on the other hand, got to 2-1 in a similar fashion, sandwiching two wins around a blowout of their own at the hands of Nebraska to the tune of 52-17. They opened the season by outlasting Northern Illinois in 3OT, which is their most impressive win to date but slipping in stature with every weekend NIU underperforms.
Both squads at 2-1, both squads capable of putting up impressive offense, and it’s Friday night football. I’d go ahead and cancel whatever plans you may have had, because it won’t be as good as this.
