2016-17 MAC Men’s Basketball Live Thread: January 17

NCAA Basketball: Ohio at Georgia Tech Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

We’ve got a great slate of games on this day in #MACsketball as we have six contests heading your way including some big rivalry games, starting with the Battle of I-75 at 7 p.m. with the Toledo Rockets hosting the Bowling Green Falcons. The Rockets have been playing good basketball all season long and look to be the class of the MAC West, but BG has looked good in conference play despite its losses so expect a close game between these two squads.

Also in the 7 p.m. time slot are some crucial MAC East battles with the Buffalo Bulls heading to the home of the Kent State Golden Flashes while the Ohio Bobcats cordially invite the Akron Zips to southeast Ohio. KSU would like to get off of the skid its been on since entering MAC play against a Bulls team that’s been playing better as of late, and Ohio will look to protect its house after losing at home to the Eastern Michigan Eagles in its last outing.

We have some MAC West tilts as well at 7 p.m. with the Eagles hosting the Western Michigan Broncos and the Central Michigan Chippewas making their way to Indiana for a clash with the Ball State Cardinals. EMU looks to continue its roll after upending the Bobcats on the road while CMU and BSU should combine for an entertaining game with Marcus Keene squaring off against a sound Cardinals team.

Our nightcap at 8 p.m. should be a dandy as well as it is the rematch of the Miami RedHawks and the Northern Illinois Huskies, this time in DeKalb. The ‘Hawks were able to take the first meeting thanks to their 11 treys on the night, but NIU is a well-rounded team so expect another nail-biter when these two teams hit the hardwood.

Now’s the time to hit the comments section and discuss your team’s game tonight. Let’s have some fun and remember: GO SHOOTY HOOPS.
