The Ohio Bobcats kept it close in the first half. Early in the second half they closed to within one, before a 22-10 run by the Akron Zips put the game away.

Kwan Cheatham Jr. had a monster game, scoring 17 points and grabbing 13 rebounds for the Zips. He was also instrumental in keeping one of the main Bobcats scoring threats, Kenny Kaminski, to 9 points on 3-13 shooting.

The Bobcats were without the services of reigning MAC player of the year, Antonio Campbell. Campbell injured his ankle on Saturday, and was in street clothes.

Isaiah Johnson added 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Zips. Jimond Ivey scored 15 on 7-10 shooting, and Antino Jackson added 11 on 3-5 from beyond the arc. Freshman Daniel Utomi added 8 off the bench.

The Bobcats were led by Jaaron Simmons with 19 points and 5 assists. Jordan Dartis added 15 points. Jason Carter had 8 rebounds off the bench.

Akron shot 55% from the floor, 47% from beyond the arc, and 85% at the line. They out rebounded the Bobcats, 34-27.

The Zips remain unbeaten in MAC play, and move to 15-3 on the season. They next host the Eastern Michigan Eagles in a huge cross divisional game on Saturday.

The Bobcats drop to 3-2 in the MAC after opening up 3-0, and next travel to DeKalb to take on Northern Illinois.
