Bowling Green travels to Akron to take on the Zips in the first MAC contest for each team this season.
After losing their first three, the Falcons have won 6 of the next 9 games, including their last 2.
They are a work in progress this season, and the thing they need to work the most on is scoring. Dylan Frye, the freshman from Pembroke Pines, Florida, has started to contribute in that area, and that’s one of the reasons the Falcons have started winning.
The Falcons are led in scoring by Wes Alcegaire, with 13.4 points per game. Demajeo Wiggins leads the team with 7.5 rebounds per contest. With a lineup as small as the Falcons, they need to rebound by committee, and they do an effective job of it. Wiggins has showed some promise scoring, going for double digits in 6 of the last 9 games.
The Zips are 10-3 on the season. After dropping their first game to Youngstown State, they have won 10 out of 12. Those 2 losses came against top 10 teams.
The Zips are led by Isaiah Johnson, who is averaging 14.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, all team leads. Antino Jackson is second on the team in scoring with 12 per game. The Zips are one of the deepest teams in the MAC, with 6 players scoring 8.9 points per game or more.
