Kent State Golden Flashes @ Ohio Bobcats: Preview, How to Watch, Listen, Stream

The biggest game in the MAC so far

NCAA Basketball: Kent State at Texas Brendan Maloney-USA TODAY Sports

Kent State is on a roll. They knocked off Texas in their last non-conference game, announcing they were ready for MAC play. They proceeded to hit 31 out of 31 free throws to knock off Ball State. Tonight they travel to Athens in a key MAC East match-up. Not only is the lead in the MAC East on the line tonight, there are also two potential MAC player of the year candidates pitted against one another.

Jimmy Hall, the 6’8 senior from Brooklyn, leads Kent State with 17.9 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. The Bobcats are led by 6’8 Antonio Campbell with similar stats, 18.4 points and 10.3 rebounds. Like Kent State, Campbell is on a bit of a roll, coming off a game against WMU where he hit 6-9 from three. The Bobcats Jaaron Simmons is leading the MAC with 7.4 assists, a full 2 assists over second place.

Both teams are outscoring their opponents by double digits. Kent State is also mauling them on the boards, with a 43.9 to 34.6 advantage. They are going to need to keep that up if they want to beat the Bobcats in Athens. It’s way to early to call any game make or break, but this game will go a long way in helping us determine our power rankings, which are pretty important.
