Ball State led at the half by 3. Neither team had more than a 6 point lead. Antwon Lillard led the Falcons with 10, while Franko House and Tayler Persons had 10 each for Ball State.
After the break, Bowling Green jumped out to a big lead. They led by 12 with 10:17 to go. Ball State, inspired by the home crowd, battled back. A Persons layup closed it to 1 with 2 minutes to go, but Antwon Lillard answered with a layup. With 45 seconds left, Person made a couple of free throws, and Antwon Lillard answered with a layup.
Zack Denny blocked a three attempt that would have tied it, but Ball State got the ball, tried another 3 which Denny rebounded. Denny made a couple free throws to ice the game.
Ball State won the battle of the boards, 47-34, including 22 on the offensive end.
Bowling Green made up for it with defense. They had 8 blocks and 11 steals.
Antwon Lillard led the Falcons with 19. Demajeo Wiggins added 17 and Zack Denny 15. The trio had 8 rebounds each.
Ball State was led by Tayler Persons, who had 21 points. Franko House came off the bench to add 16 points on 8-11 shooting, and 10 rebounds.
Bowling Green moved to 7-8, and hosts Eastern Michigan on Tuesday.
Ball State droped to 9-6 and hosts Miami on Tuesday.
