Due to heavy rain and lightning in the immediate vicinity, the game between the Western Michigan Broncos (4-2, 2-0 MAC) and the Akron Zips (3-3, 2-0 MAC) will be rescheduled. The game has been rescheduled for 1pm EST on Sunday, Oct 15.
The contest was originally scheduled for 3:30 pm EST kickoff. Lightning in the vicinity pushed the kickoff forward 30 minutes ahead with each strike. Kickoff time had been pushed to about 5:00 pm EST before the decision to reschedule until Sunday. Aside from the danger of lightning, there were also safety concerns for the players as the field began to flood.
Still in a delay, heavy rain has caused flooding around Kalamazoo, water now also a concern at Waldo Stadium. No decision yet on game time. pic.twitter.com/IKd0HzSWk0

Western Michigan was scheduled to host Akron for the Bronco’s Homecoming football game. It is likely that the winner of the contest will become the front-runner in the very competitive Mid-American Conference.
