Eastern Michigan Eagles 76, Howard Bison 66

The Eagles beat the Bison in the Hoosier Tip-Off Classic to move to 4-0 on the season. After trailing early, the Eagles turned on the jets and took a 41-26 lead at halftime and cruised to victory. The main difference was rebounding, where EMU had a 47-26 advantage.

James Thompson IV got his 4th double double of the season, scoring 18 and grabbing 14 boards. Elijah Minnie scored over 20 for the third time this season and grabbed 6 rebounds. Tim Bond added 16.

Charles Williams led the Bison with 18.

The Eagles take on the Indiana Hoosiers on 11/24.


Central Michigan Chippewas 103, Eureka Red Devils 68

The Chippewas next play the Sam Houston State Bearcats in the Great Alaskan Shootout.


Bowling Green Falcons 83, Florida Gulf Coast 80

It was a back and forth game before Dylan Frye hit a 3 to put the Falcons up 6 with a little over a minute to go. Then Bowling Green committed a few late game sins but still managed to win after Frye hit the game winning three with a little less than a second to go.

The team statistics were as even as the play.

4 of the 5 Bowling Green starters scored in double figures. Derek Koch was the only one that didn’t, but he did manage to score 9 and led the Falcons with 11 rebounds. Justin Turner led the Falcons with 20 points and also grabbed 7 rebounds and had 4 steals. Frye only hit 2 shots, but they were both huge threes down the stretch.

The Falcons host the Lake Erie Storm on Monday.


Akron Zips 76, UT Martin Skyhawks 59

Akron took a 12-3 lead on a Jaden Sayles layup and commanded most of the first half before the Skyhawks made a run and closed the gap to 34-28 at intermission. After some back and forth to start the second half, Akron started to pull away and led 65-49 after a Daniel Utomi bucket. UT Martin made a little run, but then an Utomi 3 put the Zips up 71-57 and sealed the win.

Utomi finished with 32 on 11 of 16 shooting. Malcolm Duvivier added 17 on 6 of 11 shooting.

The Zips won this game by hitting 15 of 31 from three, and 11 of 14 from the line. Martin only attempted 5 free throws.

Akron head to Dayton to take on the Flyers on the 25th.


Toledo Rockets 87, Oakland Golden Grizzlies 74

The Rockets led most of the game before Oakland made it interesting in the second half. A Nick Daniels three made it 60-55 before Toledo was able to get some good looks close and closed out the win,

Jaelan Sanford led the Rockets with 26. Luke Knapke had a double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Tre’Shaun Fletcher scored 20 and grabbed 8 rebounds.

Martez Walker led Oakland with 29 and Kendrick Nunn added 24.

The Rockets take on the Syracuse Orange on 11/22.
