It wasn’t a runaway victory, but it was a running exhibition for the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Tuesday as they defeated the Bowling Green Falcons 34-31 in the season finale for both squads.
The Eagles were paced by a two-pronged rushing attack as Ian Eriksen finished with 104 yards rushing on 24 carries and Shaq Vann ran 16 times for 117 yards. On the Falcons’ side, Jarret Doege finished 21-34 for 256 yards with two touchdowns. Josh Cleveland also ran for 150 yards and a TD. Doege's pair of TD passes in the third quarter gave the Falcons a 31-27 lead. EMU would answer with Ericksen’s third score to take the final margin as time expired in the quarter.
BG had a chance to tie in the fourth quarter but a 29-yard missed field goal by Jake Suder would surrender possession to the Eagles. The Falcons would have one final chance in the fourth quarter until, Cleveland was stopped on a fourth down turning the ball over to the Eagles where they would run out the clock.
EMU finishes 2017 with a 5-7 record (3-5 MAC) and BG finishes 2-10 (2-6 MAC).
