The Falcons have been down for the last three seasons. This year they come in at number 9 in our rankings but that is more of a testament to the depth of the league than a doubt in their ability to return to form. Last season Bowling Green struggled to score, but there are pieces in place that could change their fortune this year.
Carly Santoro returns and was the Falcons leading scorer last season. A streaky shooter, the junior from Bellevue, Ohio needs to be more consistent this season. Not a one dimensional player, she was second on the team in rebounds. Also returning is Sydney Lambert, the teams second leading scorer.
While I think the offense will be much improved, I do worry about the other side of the ball, especially in the paint. The losses of Ashley Tunstall and Abby Siefker could be huge.
Overall, I expect the Falcons to be better than last season, but I don’t expect them to challenge for the title. My assumption is that they will be an improved team and sitting around .500 on the season. With as deep as I expect the league to be, that’s a huge leap forward and a promising for the future with so many young players. There are only 2 seniors and 3 juniors on this squad. While still probably a year away, I have been fooled before.
